Rotel RCD-1570 CD-playerFollowing is a business with something of a history that is diverse. In the seventies it was making enormous, chintzy hifi separates, but a decade later had become well-known for stripped down, minimalist merchandises using the emphasis rather than frills. The player here is the successor to the styled 1520, the fundamental layout of whose it shares. It sports a mounted slot-loading CD drive, which operates slickly. Really, its classier to make use of than the other tray loaders here.
The impression of edification continues when you consider the fascia, which will be a wonderful slice of brushed aluminium as well as the buttons are laid out and in use that is favorable. Inside, there is DAC processor and a Wolfson WM8740 digital filter, working up. The mechanism may be somewhat more noisy compared to others here, and strangely it is going to recognise and show HDCDs (remember those?), but will not play with them at their resolution that is higher! That is something of an attribute that is ghostly, harking back to when Rotel made HDCD players that are great.
SOUND QUALITY
The Rotel is assertive and a powerful seeming CD player, with the animated, musical nature. The New Order track seems strong and tremendously dynamic, with the RCD-1570 capturing the synthesiser work that is frenetic, chiming keyboard stabs and that active, undulating bassline. But this machine is not fazed in the slightest, revealing itself to have an incredibly comprehensive group bristling with detail. This is allied to your clear and clean treble up partnered and top with a large, strong bass down below.
Going to the soft airs and there's a whole lot of space and air to the proceedings, as well as the beautiful voice of the vocalist is extremely well carried tonally - seeming breathy and rich. The tune as well as backing instruments time seems refined and polished in a sense that all here can not quite deliver. But this tune does demonstrate the Rotel to be a bit mechanical sounding; only at that cost, this is not a criticism so much as an observation, it is simply that the tune does not quite have the Rega's wonderful organic flow. All of the devices are wonderfully interpreted, but the complete does not quite gel together well. It is an extremely remarkable-sounding machine, although not as enchanting.
The Rotel is a player that is dynamic, and not quite allows you to forget this - there is a touch of melodrama to its demonstration, which will be a delight with strong pop like this. In cases like this, the display of the Rotel proves to be a powerful listen, and appears to satisfy the tune. ![]() |
