Audiovector Si1 Super Floor standing speakersSome things never change - particularly when you are Audiovector. Essentially, notion is you may return the loudspeaker to the factory for upgrades that are bespoke - than being forced to sell it and begin all over again.
For the last thirty two years, the business has grown steadily, consistently selling to existing customers who often create a powerful devotion to the marque.
And why not - it's characterful and distinctive, in its endearing manner. Now's Audiovectors are, obviously, quite different to those several decades back, but there is still an echo gained the early layouts so many buddies, not least the IUC.
Having previous experience with this particular brand, it came as no real surprise to view this DNA present Si1 Super standmounts.
The aforementioned Audiovector upgrade options are, I believe, a great strategy, both for the firm (in keeping customers), but in addition with regard to sustainability because it is possible to have better functionality without needing to sell on and/or purchase another loudspeaker which may have cost more in stuff for the manufacturing company to make and more of your time and money to purchase. For this end Audiovector says you could conserve about forty percent by updating compared to trading-in.
It's elegantly styled and ended in classical Danish customs of design, materiality and craftsmanship. There are a number of fine flourishes for example the magnetic fasteners for the grilles as well as the machined symbol -point fixing for the drive-units. In the back are just two interfaces and mid/ bass drivers, while there's also bi-cable/biamping ability with four binding posts Audiovector's statement is single- wiring. There's also a matching curved top stand at GBP500 for the Si chain.
Sound quality
Following a generous running in span, my began in the shape of John Ward's Consort Music and Six Viols: Phantasm, with classical music. This is presented to the interaction in a clear and open way with elaborate detail - enticing stuff! Transforming to the quite distinct and quite more populist tunes of Vanessa Paradis' eponymous 1992 record, also it demonstrated the Audiovectors let the inherent quality of the record to come through complete. Here Paradis' lightweight yet enchantingly French accented vocals were flawlessly set inside the sixties-styled pop-soul vibe. The complex and sleek drumming, as well as the deft interaction between vocal and instrumental tunes were extremely not bad, yet revealing to pick out every sweeping success that is melodic, as well as the occasional note-imperfection, also!
Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene 4 from the good-sounding Essentials remaster was clear and open, yet exceptionally enveloping. It had been interpreted just right, immersing the listener because well-known melodic analogue soundbath age output signal that was characteristic of Jarre's classic nineteen seventies.
This was caught by the Audiovectors beautifully - there was a capacious and broad soundstage, as well as precious little awareness of compression. In once, I discovered their tonality to be really great, with little awareness adding their very own distinctive take. While the Sis are not ever likely to give electrostatic degrees of transparency the did not intervene too much letting the listening room is poured into by its natural flavour.
Given that the cost GBP1,700, you'd quite rightly anticipate them to be open and inert.
The apparent criticism is, needless to say, the comparatively small bass, as well as a certain inclination to seem somewhat more compressed than some similarly priced floorstanders. Monitor Audio's GX200 (which may be had for whisker presented a somewhat clearer midrange that gained vocals from Young and Paradis. But I adored the Audiovectors' musicality that was orderly, organized - this was particularly noticeable when listening to the instrumentation. The Audiovectors proved exceptional in how the had the ability to help keep the identity of every strand of the music complete, in addition to giving a wide and clearly more open sound to the acoustic guitar that was recorded. Decision
Although there is nothing exceptional in the way - there is no headline-catching innovative cupboard design trick tweeter or unique mid/ bass unit - it's certainly engineered and clearly very well finessed also. The end result is a loudspeaker that isn't showy, gaudy or gimmicky - it simply gets on with the occupation of letting you are seduced by the music.
It is not impossible to think of it as Michell's GyroDec turntable's loudspeaker equivalent. This means it offers a wonderfully widescreen space for music which can be a feat considering the relative compactness of the cartons up. These loudspeakers are extremely elegantly designed and engineered, and therefore are made all the better by the IUC upgrades of Audiovector. There is much to enjoy here, they are worth an audition. ![]() |
