Roksan Kandy K2 CD-player

The Kandy K2, has been to get an excellent four years out there.

One undeniably pleasant attribute is the programmable, learning remote control while those balanced XLR output signals that are all important are right and present as well as regular RCAs, on the rear of the player.

The panel did not take to the Roksan's styling, feeling ir to be too far-out for many flavors. But it is clear that many of attention to detail was lavished on the player below the hood. A particularly isolated transport mechanism to prevent shaking reaching seven independent power supply rails, and the cd reading laser off a toroidal mains transformer that is particular to give electricity that is clean to various parts of the circuitry.

Roksan says the circuitboards' internal layout continues to be revised to further enhance sound.

Sound quality

From the initial bar eyebrows started to lift. The Audiolab had made this kind of profound impression the panel were believing that the 8200CD was the victor by a country mile, and it was a fait accompli. Not thus, as the Kandy K2 provided a strong performance, pulling the heartstrings much as the Audiolab, maybe more.

A beguiling shuffling percussion was revealed by the Peter Gabriel track, while the flute hovered on the mixture with the autonomy of spirit and depth that the Audiolab could not quite fit. Instruments only appeared to play wonderfully, yet were instantly identifiable. It is the kind of sound that is natural you'd expect from an organization that makes a few of the finest turntables on the planet, is it? Having a vibrant tonal palette, there was lots of penetration to the mixture, on the Peace Orchestra track -really the Audiolab seemed grayer and only a bit cooler by comparison. Imaging was outstanding, as well as the manner vocals were taken across most of the music looked somehow romantic.

The Kandy K2 is sweeter and much more curved as opposed to Audiolab, and this will be seen by some as too little detail and penetration, and that's the reason why it did not shine across the board as its competition. Either way, it is an audition that is essential.
